Volume Converter
About the Volume
This volume converter converts between millilitres, litres, cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, fluid ounces, pints, and gallons — the units that dominate cooking, baking, and everyday liquid measurements. It is the tool to reach for when a recipe uses cups but you only have a measuring jug in millilitres, or when you need to scale a drink or a meal. The kitchen is where volume conversion gets messy, because cups are not all the same. A US cup is 236.6 ml, while a metric cup is 250 ml, and a UK imperial cup is 284 ml. This means a recipe written with US cups is genuinely different in volume from one using metric cups. The converter lets you choose which type of cup you are converting from so you get the right amount. A US tablespoon is 14.79 ml, a US teaspoon is 4.93 ml, and there are 16 tablespoons in a US cup. Fluid ounces also differ: a US fluid ounce is 29.5735 ml, while the UK (imperial) fluid ounce is 28.4131 ml. This matters most when converting a recipe that measures liquids in fl oz. Pints and gallons follow the same US-versus-UK split: a US pint is 473 ml, a UK pint is 568 ml, and there is a comparable difference for gallons. The reason almost all bottle and recipes misuse the labels is this variation. Use this converter to scale a recipe, convert an ingredient list, work out how many litres are in a gallon of paint, or figure out how many servings are in a bottle. Enter the amount, choose your units, and the result appears instantly in real time. Always check whether you are using US or UK cups and ounces — it is the difference between a perfect cake and a very different volume.
